This Backpack has been a lifesaver for commuting in and out of the city. I can fit my lunch and my computer without it looking bulky. It is practical but still looks really chic!

As a college student living off campus, I was worried I would have to carry a random lunchbox around, but I am so glad I found this!! So adorable and keeps my lunch fresh all day.

As a student, this bag is perfect for traveling all day. It's not bulky and carries not only my laptop and notebook, but also my lunch. It ensures everything stays fresh even when traveling across campus.

With light use for 3 years, my lunchbox backpack is down for the count.
It was BEAUTIFUL, and three years is probably a fair expected lifespan, but I wouldn't purchase this again, and I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who needs it to function as a true backpack.

Let me first say, the crocodile embossed PVC is a lovely texture, and the hardware looks great (no weird tarnishing and I love the strap buckles and the tiny feet at the bottom). Also, the capacity of this bag might work for someone who only needs a little compartment for their laptop and some food storage.

I bought this when starting grad school in 2022 and the design of the storage compartments has been awful for me--just packing a regular-sized notebook with my laptop was too much for the little laptop areaspace-wise. Because of this, I've used the backpack super rarely (less than once per week over 3 yrs). Here's how it held up:
The top does not fully close (unless the backpack is barely packed). The embossing flaked off right away (probably within the first couple of months) and where the strap attaches to the rest of the bag is tearing (possibly from weighing it down by trying to carry non-food items). The edging is also peeling, but I would expect that from any three year old bag.

If you want this as a lunch box and are only planning to pack some food in the bottom few inches of the insulated area and maybe stash a slim notebook or laptop in the other compartment, this might be great for you! However, if you need any more space for books, planner, etc. I would not recommend it. I would not recommend the embossing in either case.

If I were to order from Modern Picnic again, I would probably just get one of their cute lunchbox purses. Just looking at their designs, I feel like the smaller bags might have a better-shaped top that would close all the way. I would also only use it to carry my lunch and not assume there's space to pack my planner or other pursely items. These are LUNCHBOXES disguised as gorgeous bags, not gorgeous bags designed to carry everything in your normal bag plus your lunch.

The only problem with the backpack is I wish it was a little bigger.
